Superstition Mountain Wedding | Britney+Jason
Oh my glory, 2018 just snuck up on me! They say time flies when you are having fun, and I have been having so much fun here in Arizona exploring all of the amazing new landscapes and scenery out here. Too much fun, apparently, to remember to update my blog since *gasp* October! But I digress. What better way to jump back in than a wedding ❤️
You might remember this awesome pair from their engagement session just a few months ago. This past November we met up again at the base of the breathtaking Superstition Mountains in Lost Dutchman Park, for a simple and beautiful ceremony to celebrate their wedding day. I absolutely adore intimate weddings, no matter how small a wedding is every bride should have beautiful amazing photos to remember her day! Intimate weddings are extra magical to me though, when a bride and groom have the people they love most in the world standing just a few feet away, focused entirely on them, you can just feel the love among them! Britney and Jason had just a very small handful of their closest friends and family on hand to witness their commitment to one another, and it was perfect. When we arrived, we hiked out just a few feet past the parking lot to find the perfect spot with a gorgeous view of the mountains behind them. As the sun drops, the Superstition Mountains just light up with the most beautiful glow, and made the most perfect backdrop for their portraits.
If you are planning your small, intimate wedding in the Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, Queen Creek, or Apache Junction area be sure to get in touch to see what kind of magic we can create for you!
Perched on a cliff, overlooking the warm sandy beaches of Crystal Cove and gentle surf of the Pacific Ocean, sits the most perfect little spot for an intimate wedding ceremony. The half-mile or so hike into the park to reach this secluded destination is well worth the incredible view that rewards you at the end! Against the backdrop of a perfect Newport Beach summer sunset, Terry and Jim chose the Treasure Cove overlook to celebrate their vows, surrounded by their closest and dearest family and friends. The love among this newly created family was so apparent, all of their grown children, spouses and grandchildren blended together as if they had been family all their lives. After the short hike back out of the park, the celebration continued at an intimate dinner party at Tommy Bahama’s filled with laughter, touching speeches, and the most adorable little flower girls I have ever seen. The 3 little cousins announced the newlyweds’ grand entrance by ringing bells attached to sparkly gold fairy wands, such a cute touch! Terry and Jim, it was an honor to be there to capture it all for you, and I wish you and your beautiful family many many more years of laughter and love!
She wore his favorite sneakers with her gorgeous, tea length wedding dress. He wore, what else, his favorite sneakers! April and Christian celebrated their wedding with a casual, easy going backyard ceremony in front of a small collection their closest family and friends. It was sweet, personal, and laid back, a perfect reflection of their personalities. After the I Do’s, we hopped in the car and headed over to the incredible, amazing, gorgeous Claremont College campus in Pomona. Oh the historic buildings, the stained glass windows, the archways, a photographer’s heaven! But wait… the Scripps College graffiti walls! Ahh!! We bounced from unique spot to unique spot, all the while they laughed, joked and enjoyed some quiet one-on-one time as brand new husband and wife. It was a joy to be invited to capture their special day and get to know them! Here begins their new life…
A short drive up the orchard lined highway from Yucaipa sits the most adorable, scenic and welcoming wedding venue, Oak Glen’s Buttercup Cottage. The “cottage” is actually an estate, with a gorgeous Victorian style main house, sprawling lawn with a perfect white gazebo, and views that go on for miles. Candice and Scott’s were married this past Fall at Buttercup Cottage and I was lucky enough to be invited to photograph the nuptials. Buttercup Cottage is owned and run by Linda, her beautiful family, and doting staff. Linda is so incredibly sweet, and definitely leaves no detail overlooked.
Our day started in the bridal suite with its amazing bay windows and perfect afternoon light. The bridal suite boasts the cutest white antique vanity set that provided a perfect little spot for “getting ready” photos of the bride. I honestly could have sat and stared out those windows at the view and the sunset all day!
Downstairs, arriving guests were treated to a water station with yummy fruit infused waters, before they found their way to their seats on lush green lawn. The ceremony set-up provides a great view of the bride and groom from every seat, as they stand at the gazebo to exchange their vows. Being so far removed from the city and traffic noises, there is a peaceful calm in the air that made it easy for every guest to enjoy actually hearing the vows!
After the ceremony, I was able to wisk the bride and groom away to steal a few moments alone in the impressive Hansel and Gretel inspired tree house. I mean, seriously, a tree house! Where else in Southern California can you find that at a wedding venue? I am completely in love with the unique photo backdrops that this venue offers, I cannot say enough about how beautiful it is!
Throughout the evening, guests were able to enjoy such nice little touches as lawn games, a s’mores station with a fire pit, and little benches and “sofa’s” made of hay to sit and relax and have a conversation. The patio is decorated with cafe lights and very cool vintage street lights, and makes the perfect spot for guests to dine and dance the night away under the stars.
Candice and Scott are two of the most down to earth, easy going, and sweet people that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. After their Anaheim Packing House engagement session I just KNEW I was going fall in love with their wedding, and it did not disappoint. With a combination of DIY touches and super fun accents provided by the venue, it felt more like one big laid-back family BBQ, and that was exactly how Candice described it to me the very first time we spoke. Linda, the amazing owner and event coordinator at Oak Glen’s Buttercup Cottage, has an incredible eye for details, and it shows throughout her beautiful 3.5 acre property. Sweet little signs, fun seating areas to snuggle up, lawn games, and a most perfect Smores set-up to cap off the night, are just some of the little extras she provides. And that bridal suite, oh my! With the most beautiful light, huge garden windows and a perfect little vintage vanity, it is just a lovely little retreat for the bride and her girls. For their reception, Candice and Scott chose to forego the traditional cake smashing and instead serve delicious cupcakes, matching the rest of her Fall themed decor. Pumpkins and candy apples topped each table, and guests were treated to an amazing BBQ buffet. The perfect end to a perfect evening under the stars!
